His Majesty King Charles III was born on 14 November 1948 at Buckingham Palace, during the reign of his maternal grandfather, King George VI. On the death of Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September 2022, King Charles acceded to the throne, becoming sovereign of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
