The Battle of Kapyong (22–23 April 1951) was the most important battle for Australian troops in the Korean War (25 June 1950–27 July 1953). The Korean War was fought between communist-backed North Korea and South Korea, which was supported by United Nations forces, led by USA, with contingents from many countries including Australia. The Australian Army was primarily represented in Korea by the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3 RAR).
