FX Holden

In 1948, General Motors Holden’s completed the challenge of building the nation's first successfully mass-produced car – the Holden 48-215 sedan, which became known as the FX. It quickly became a national sensation, making Holden a household name and becoming Australia's top-selling passenger car by 1950. The FX boasted unitary construction, offering comfort for six passengers, and excelled in Australia's rugged conditions thanks to its reliable, six-cylinder OHV "grey" motor and three-speed manual gearbox. In 1951, the original sedan was joined by the 50-2106 utility, and in 1953, the 48 215-257 Business sedan.

FJ Holden

The FJ Holden, produced from 1953 to 1956, is a pivotal chapter in Australian automotive history. As the second 'all-Australian' car, it evolved from the 48-215 series and boasted a distinctive horizontal grille. The 'Holden Special' sedan introduced enhanced comfort and style. FJ Holden offered Standard, Business and Special trims, plus innovative coupe utility and panel van variants. In 1953, Holden exported to New Zealand, starting an enduring legacy. With a 2.2-litre engine and 3-speed manual, it achieved impressive speeds, becoming an Australian classic. A 1955 interior facelift solidified its legacy. EH Holden

By the time the Holden EH sedan was released in August 1963, Holden had already sold more than a million vehicles since it started production in 1948. The EH sported the powerful 'red' engine with a larger bore, shorter stroke, and higher compression ratio, nearly doubling the output of the 1948 FX model. It offered three trim levels: Standard, Special, and the luxurious Premier, complete with metallic Magic-Mirror finish, narrow-band whitewall tires, and opulent leather upholstery. The EH sold nearly 257,000 units in just 18 months. This limited medallion cover commemorates 60 years since the debut of the first Holden EH sedan.
