The Great Wall of China is over 2,300 years old and is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Spanning over 21,000 kilometres, the Great Wall is the longest wall in the world. It was initially constructed and continuously restored by rulers of more than 20 dynasties as a defensive fortification system to protect territorial borders. A landmark of historic, strategic and architectural significance, the Great Wall of China was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
