2016 $1 50th Anniversary of Decimal Currency Coin Pack
- Issued for the 50th anniversary of the introduction of Decimal Currency to Australia
- Struck by the Royal Australian Mint in minuscule numbers ‐ mintage a mere 0.56 million!
- Notable for its commemorative obverse design
- Extremely hard to find in change in any grade
In 2016, Australia celebrated 50 years since the inception of Decimal Currency. To honour the occasion, the Royal Australian Mint issued the superb Decimal Currency 50th Anniversary 2016 $1 coin. Thanks to its distinctive obverse and tiny mintage, it is prized by Australian collectors ‐ and is very difficult to find in change today.
Unlike many Australian circulating commemorative coins, it is not the reverse of this coin that makes it unique, but its obverse. The design pays homage to the original Florin reverse motif, perfectly encapsulating the idea of progress and history embodied by the anniversary itself.
This one-year-only type was issued in minuscule numbers. Just 560,000 were struck, making it incredibly difficult to come across in change! Thanks to the novelty of the unique obverse, many coins that were discovered in change are likely to have been hoarded out of circulation. That's why this opportunity is so crucial.
Downies is delighted to offer this critical, low-mintage coin ‐ in strictly Uncirculated condition! Each coin arrives set within an informative, credit card-style pack.
