In 2010, the third release in our highly collectable Inspirational Australians coin series, celebrates the life and work of Professor Fred Hollows.  A skilled ophthalmologist, he pioneered modern cataract surgery with the use of an implanted intraocular lens as seen on the coin design.  This technique restored sight to those blinded by poverty alone and his name lives on through The Fred Hollows Foundation, through this coin and the vision of millions worldwide.
